There are future engineers just getting started who can't justify or afford to pay $200 for #VMUGadvantage, and in the long run, you can't afford to lose that future talent either.

It doesn't matter that @Broadcom gives away free training for VCF licensees if the only way they get training and learn is via that closed loop. I hope that at some point they'll come to their senses and make ESXi free available again.

I started with VMware by downloading, installing, and learning ESXi free. This directly led to the company I worked for fully adopting ESXi and vCenter, me becoming certified, and so on.

At a certain point, there will no longer be any new engineers familiar with VMware because they never had an opportunity to learn and play with it in their #homelab. This then begs the question, where will enterprises still using #vmwarebybroadcom find talent?

Was having a convo with a friend about the sorry state of #VMware, specifically the end of #ESXifree. He had a fantastic point I wanted to share: Killing ESXi free essentially ends the pipeline of new admins into the VMware admin ecosystem.
