I made a floppy disk based game! Sort of like a whack-a-mole but with inserting the correct floppy disk in the right drive. The "gameplay" starts at 1:10 in the video. #floppy #retro

since all of it was happening at the last possible moment, I couldn't really distribute the work so I spent the whole night before the conference finishing the firmware, flashing the badges, mounting the battery holders and mounting the acrylic plates (5/6)

due to some delays and some components not being in stock, I received the badges 2 days before the conference and had to manually add those two QFN chips (NFC frontend and LED matrix driver) to all 100 badges. (4/6)

after the conference the badge can be switched to notifier mode where the content can be set over the USB and the badge also reports the UI events such as button presses and NFC tags' IDs so it can be used as a desktop notifier or action trigger (example script in the repo) (3/6)

during the conference attendees had two quests: one was to find the hidden NFC tags placed around the conference area and the second one was to interact with other badges in order to increase the badge counter (2/6)

here's the story of this year's @dorscluc conference badge. the badge has 6 character display, NFC reader, 2 buttons and a USB connection. during the conference it was used for 2 quests for attendees and due to the USB it's also usable after the conference (1/6) #badgelife
