@1798walkingtour @RuthCan75563366 I don’t think Joe took much influence from Tone with his foreign policy over the last two years

@1798walkingtour @Seanofthesouth President Biden recalls the American pride in the “Ulster Scots immigrants who helped found and build my country” and “signed the Declaration of Independence of the United States, pledging their lives for freedom’s cause”

@1798walkingtour Coincidentally, the street in Ballina from which his Mayo ancestors came is Tone Street (though known as Garden Street pre-independence)

@1798walkingtour Brilliant! We never knew that. Thanks for bringing to our attention @1798walkingtour Some cynics sneer at Joe Biden but he has been a true friend of Ireland. Our Irish Diaspora can play a part in our New Ireland. What a pity Brit Govt stymied and blocked scale of his visit.

@1798walkingtour Tone would be ashamed to be spoken of by a warmonger like Biden, a leader among the world elite that bullies the helpless around the world for its own benefit. He represents the very imperialism Tone lived to oppose. Biden should keep our revolutionary figures out of his mouth.

@1798walkingtour Tone wanted to found a British colony on some island in his early years and was rebuked. If his request was granted I don't see him giving his life for Ireland

@1798walkingtour Just read a book " The Roots of Ireland's Troubles" by Robert Stedall. Covers the period from 1540 to 1900. Very, very interesting read.

@1798walkingtour Sadly the nearby Newsletter of today, founded 1714, not the voice of enlightenment. More like the voice of apartheid, though Biden gave a subtle but pointed history lesson to both sides. Leadership, as always, except 1998, lacking.

@1798walkingtour Is this a joke? Biden, once escorted off stage and into a home will be remembered as the worst president in US history.. maybe with Johnson.
