We witnessed a historical event today at Memorial Stadium when Sand Hills-Thedford beat Wynot 50-12 in the D2 Final. Junior Kyle Cox carried an unimaginable 65 times for 489 yards and 6 TDS. He carried 65 of the 68 running plays. 65 is a state record. Mr. Cox, you are incredible!

13 days after my full knee replacement, I was able to ditch my walker. No doubt now I will be on the sidelines for Week Zero of the 2023 high school Football season.

Choosing All-State teams in each class is a huge endeavor. Many times I've felt like hanging it up because there are always broken hearts. I miss a few each year, but I love & live the game, watch endless film, hit 30 games a year & love the kids. It's well worth the risks.

This may explain the decrease in number of small town Nebraska schools since 1961. In 1959 there were 90,475 FARMS in Nebraska. Last census I saw in 2017 listed 46,332 FARMS in our fine state. From 1954 to 1969 the numbers dropped from 100,845 to 72,257. No farms, no kids.

Not often one gets to witness the myriad of emotions I saw following the Burwell/Cross County game. From the thrill of victory to a team rich in tradition, to the agony of defeat to a program quickly gaining that status. The game of HS football teaches us so many life lessons.

I had this exceptional football talent for an unofficial 255 yards on 25 carries with TD runs of 11 and 33 yards. Carlos also broke runs of 29, 22 and 63 yards in his return to the field. He said the hammy feels great. I just shook my head in disbelief seeing his moves tonight!

Bennington RB Dylan Mostek is the 3rd leading rusher in the nation (11-Man). Dylan has 30 TDs and ZERO fumbles. And that BADger O-Line continues to dominate, plus provide excellent pass protection for QB Trey Bird, who has thrown for 1,193 yards/13 TDs.

Why do I think Elkhorn South RB Cole Ballard the best in the state? Every single time he's touched the football on a rush, it's 10 yards a pop. Every single game, he has scored at least THREE touchdowns rushing. Every 3.5 times he catches a pass, it goes for a TD. BIG TIME BALLER

My congratulations to St. Paul RB Eli Larson, whose 137 yards against Twin River elevated him over the 5,000 Career Rushing Mark. Eli is currently one of only 52 backs in history to ever achieve this mark. He is at 5,109 yards. All but 199 of those were gained in a 3 year span!

The fact Dylan Soule is a two year 1000 yard rusher somehow gets lost in the shuffle at times with the great Keaton Van Housen in the same backfield. Not today, man. 145 yards on 23 carries, 3 TDs, and also the leading tackler on defense with 11 stops (6 solos). Sterup had 9.
