That’s a high level overview on the lifecycle of an ETH transaction. If you’re interested in this type of content, follow me. I’ll be posting different explainers every week.

n/ computational power (hash rate) devoted to securing each blockchain network. Bitcoin users usually consider a minimum of 6 block confirmations to be highly secure. Depending on the chains, the block time is different: e.g. ETH 12s, BSC 3s.

5/ successful transaction: When the block containing transaction is mined, it is propagated to every node, mining the others as well. Transaction becomes "successful". The actual number of confirmations before a transaction is considered final varies and is directly dependent on

4/ The nodes in the network will verify that the user has the right values to spend, and verify the digital signature, then the nodes start to perform the transaction to send the value from the user's wallet to the recipient's wallet. The status becomes "pending".

3/ When txn is validated, the old state of chain is compared to future state of chain caused by txn. Check for underflows and overflows. Depending on gas limit, this txn maybe prioritized/sent to other nodes, but it is only stored in the txn pools of miners until full validation.

2/ Pending: Transaction gets validated by a miner and picked up by closest node in the network. Any node can validate the transaction, but the miner's validation is most important, and transaction enters mempool.
