I love the idea of small but mighty companies
* Team of 1-3
* $1-10m/year
* <40 hour weeks for everyone
A company doesn't have to be massive to be great
This week, someone just joined our DAO, read our onboarding docs, joined a project team, and then made a couple of PRs
All by themselves
That is how it's supposed to work, but it's still pretty shocking when it actually does
You’re packing for DAO Camp, looking forward to seeing all your web3 friends, climbing the rope course, and talking about DAOs
You’re allowed to bring 3 books about org design, work, management etc that aren’t about DAOs but totally are about DAOs
What books do you bring?
I’m so over stimulated at Eth Denver - it’s a million people I want to spend time with and a million talks and events I want to go to
Its friggin great
Almost a full year after taking Write of Passage by
@david_perell
I'm still struggling with one of the core principles of the course
As a Type A, former A+ student, I honestly can't believe this is true
And I intend to prove it
Sign in with Ethereum is really cool, but it's only half the problem/opportunity
The other half is token-gating
i.e. I need something like google drive where people can sign in with their wallets and only access a folder of documents if they hold ₡ABIN
Niklas Luhmann developed and used the Slipbox/Zettelkasten method to write 70 books and ~400 scholarly articles over the course of his career
It's a very powerful, simple process for writing that anyone can use to become prolific.
How does it work?
Cabin is hosting a DAO Operator Residency at the cabins focused on DEIJ in web3/DAOs
Who should we bring together? What workshops should we organize?

After ~3-4 years of being really depressed, I’m overwhelmed by the amount of joy in my life right now
I feel gushy and silly for saying this but life can be really beautiful
The New Yorker just published this piece about DAOs and
@creatorcabins
gets a good shoutout
It's crazy to think that 10 months ago, we were a group of 6-7 people who just got on zoom every week to support each other's creative pursuits
Gm friends,
We just had an incredible time at EthDenver and it was so great to see many of you
Throughout the week,
@gitcoin
announced a lot of new and exciting changes and I want to take a minute to resurface + contextualize them
The key message: Gitcoin is evolving
I’m having an amazing time at EthCC but one of my biggest takeaways so far is that we all need to be spending time at non-web3 conferences, talking about some of incredible potential of our technology and projects
It's Friday and so that means it's co-living thread time!
One of the criticisms I've heard about co-living is it only works for a certain phase of your life (pre-life partner, pre-kids)
This week's thread is about co-living as a group of families
@Madisonkanna
Short-term solutions generally become permanent anyway, so take the time to build long-term solutions regardless of how fast you feel you need to move
It feels a little more brutal, but you don’t accumulate the kind of technical debt that can kill your product
My prediction on how L2 Summer ends:
Wallets just abstract away what chain you're on and you (almost) never really know. The UI bundles up your Eth, USDC, etc and bridges for you, when appropriate
The Asset + Chain pattern is really really bad - either auto detect with smart heuristics or defer the decision as much as possible, else see people churn.
Think for the user, don't make the user think.
(Not a jab at this specific wallet, everybody is the same)
Starting to use Foundry?
The library is still pretty new, which means there aren't a lot of resources out there on testing large-scale projects yet
Here are 10 codebases that are using Foundry as their testing framework, arranged from simple to more complex
This has been one of the best run launches I've seen to date
A couple of things this team has done particularly well that I (and I hope others) plan to copy (sorry not sorry)

The world of stable jobs with a linear progression ended and nothing has clearly replaced it. It makes thinking about your own career difficult
What do you model your career on, if not a linear career trajectory?
The answer is a Career Archetype
Calling them sub-DAOs is lame and unimaginative. There, I said it. We can do better!
- Guilds
- Clubs
- Circles
- Quests
- Harry Potter-style houses
Better yet, mix and match!
Guilds - specific functional groups
Houses - fun social groups
Circles - project delivery teams

2022 roadmap will be approved in 20 minutes, the last Cabin Postcard of the year just went out, and our biggest batch of bounties yet is going out in a few days.
It's been a wild and crazy ride this year, but next year
Next year is gonna be lit
Sharing a thread to inspire you to more seriously consider buying a place with your friends. Your life will be better and it's a lot more attainable than you think
Here are 6 places that are currently on the market and would make great co-living/co-working communities
DAOs are just a major version upgrade on an existing foundation of human organization
Meaning we’re not upgrading from a beta 0.9 to 1.0 but from a very established version 9.8.7 to 10.0.0
Most of the old stuff is staying the same and *should stay the same*
🌞 gm fren,
So we didn't win the bid to buy the constitution, huh? Well, shucks.
It sucks to lose and I know you're probably gutted. I certainly am! But I want you to think about this:
17,436 people came together to raise over $40 million in 72 hours
Why?
Owocki is teasing the launch of Allo, the protocol that makes
@gitcoin
's grants program and Grants Stack software possible
Here's a thread of some things that I think would be absolutely dope to build on top of it
Hey, come hear my talk on the Eiffel Stage at 12:15
I’ll be talking about
@alloprotocol
and some of the really exciting things you can build on it
I’ll also have these dope, exclusive Public Goods sunglasses for you 😎
gm gm,
If you're an introvert coming in to Austin this week for
@Permissionless
have I got the city guide for you
In it, you'll find a collection of recommendations from a local Austinite
All organized by activity, noise level, and other introvert-friendly tags
📯 Okay Devs,
Overjoyed to announce
@pgn_eth
, a community-led L2 focused on sustainable funding for public goods
Check this out if you're building anything related to public goods, because I have testnet Eth for you

🟢 Introducing: Public Goods Network— a community-led L2 ecosystem for public goods maxis.
It's time to explore durable mechanisms to generate abundant and legitimate funding for public goods.

About to buy all of these - minus the one I already have.

Now officially been in Texas for over a year (almost a year and a half)

Dear Twitter,
I'm looking for a (senior-ish) animator
I need ~3-4 animated videos (4-7 min) and some short intros (30s)
It's a fun mental health project that will run through July and August and pays well
Please DM me for the job description or if you know someone
Has anyone implemented a Harberger Tax NFT before?
i.e. ownership of a limited number of tokens is based on a periodic self-assessment + tax and anyone can propose a sale to take over ownership
Anyway, we're really interested in solving this kind of problem at
@creatorcabins
so if this is interesting to you, we'd love to have you join us
We can facilitate most of the process of buying and owning the home, we just need someone (you!) who can be the caretaker!
Something like Teach for America but where recent grads spend a year supporting open source projects (in technical or non-technical roles)
Does this exist? This would be amazing
Hats off to Privy, this is such great news
Privy has built a really amazing product. If you want to talk about UX and usability in web3, their embedded wallets implementation is *the* biggest UX step forward for the industry in the last year
The Cabin team is together working on our Season 3 roadmap and thinking through building the DAO
What do you think we absolutely have to talk about this week?
Hi fren!
On Fridays, I post a thread inspiring you to start a coliving community (and get help from
@creatorcabins
to do so)
My past threads have focused on how cheap it can be to go in on a place with friends
This week, I want to talk about how *dope* your lifestyle could be
A
@creatorcabins
resident is at the cabin celebrating one year of being a creator by reading a book that was published from the cabin by one of the first Cabin members…
… anyone follow that?
Today marks exactly one year of creative unemployment, which I am celebrating by reading the copy of
@p_millerd
’s very topical book that I found in the
@creatorcabins
bookcase
The "traditional" business model for communities is a subscription or membership fee (monthly, annually, etc)
As we talk about business models for DAOs, why is this not part of the conversation?
[[Principles for Building DAOs]] DAOs are a sort of ecosystem. In natural ecosystems, more diversity means more stability and more resilience.
Building a long-term stable and resilient DAO means building a diverse one.
This was such a fun thing to share with the residents!
I’ve been making pasta at least once a week for years. I love sharing it with others and nothing binds a group like kneading dough and eating together
This is big
Mirror has led the way in building web3 tools for creators, showing us what's possible with this technology. At it's core, this is a simple idea but one that is going to have an profound impact on our future
I have a little life update to share: today is my last day at General Assembly! I'm really conflicted and sad about leaving
@GA_DC
@GA
, but I'm also really excited about what comes next!
✨A thread ✨
Hey friend,
Me and some web3 friends are doing research on DAO sustainability and revenue models. Do you work for a DAO (or any web3 project)? Would you fill out our survey? We'll publish the results under

There are many, many things that I love about the
@creatorcabins
Discord server
One of those things is that it turns into a total ghost town every Friday and no one comes back online until Monday morning
1/ Announcing: Wallet Pregeneration 🚨🚨🚨
You can now mint or airdrop assets directly to a user’s email address, phone number, or socials
The best part??
No user action required! Engage a user even if they've never used your app (or web3 at all for that matter)
People thinking of
@GatsbyJS
as a site generator are missing the point
Gatsby is The Everything Front End
You name it, you can probably build a front end for it in Gatsby
