Why does the new version of the @magicJack mobile app require access to location data? That's a big nope. I will NOT use magicJack anymore. And I will NOT be renewing my subscription. I don't do business with companies that don't respect my #privacy.

Enjoyed being at the @Blockstream event in CDMX the last couple days. They're doing some great things to mitigate the risks of smart contracts with the Simplicity language.

Feeling pretty good today that I stopped using JS frameworks and reduced my exposure to NPM to the absolute minimum.

Does writing tests feel like you're writing a whole other application in addition to your application, except without the satisfaction of feeling like you're making progress?

There is sophistication in simplicity. The rush to solve a problem by writing more code is a typical beginners mistake. One of the best compliments I've ever received as a software engineer was when a more senior engineer was impressed that I fixed a bug by REMOVING code.

I couldn't be happier about my choice to delete my Google account, delete my Apple account, stop using "free" cloud storage, and take control of my own data and services. This is the best guide I've ever seen on the topic. https://t.co/r6eIv4AXx1

Another company restricting consumer freedom because they say they care about "protecting your security." Despite the fact that their list of security failures shows the opposite. Shame on BMW. Glad I never bought one. https://t.co/qv5xC2KcLd

Apple got caught selling your private convos to third parties even if you didn't activate Siri. Not one of these corporations is your friend, you're little more than a way for them to print money and this is how your loyalty is rewarded.

6 months ago, I took a deep dive into security with a simple question: “How do I get better at this?” 6 months later, I have a messy notepad full of notes, an entirely new way of seeing the space. Here are 5 profound mistakes everyone should avoid if they want to save time 🧵

I have been in a dev's shoes and can confirm that pre-scheduling an audit a month in advance while development (and even design/architecture) is still starting can be a very bad thing. Sometimes an audit becomes a burden instead of a service because of this
4. Better scheduling of audits -> Audits push pressure on the team. It's better to schedule an audit quite late than slightly in advance. Slightly in advance can have dramatic consequences (not enough tested, reviewed code, big rush, etc.).
