Spiders are indifferent to humans. Most of them, even the scant few with venom toxic to humans, prefer to run and hide instead of bite. Arachnophobia may be as old as humanity, but is also the least founded in reality. Wasps and even scorpions -- they try to sting people.

From cops who suspect people to be sex workers to the endlessly staring uncles in less diverse parts of town to the cabbies who assume people to be working in salons -- the list is truly endless.

Anyone who thinks that Bangaloreans are not bigoted, xenophobic and racist has never looked past their own experiences and privilege. This is but one of many examples in the city for people presenting as 'Asian'. (I'm using all the above words advisedly.)
