people are just haters for no reason now bc a 13 y/o reading Dostoyevsky is literally a miracle. In an age where the youth is so disconnected from classical art and art in general, something to hook kids/young ppl onto it is so precious, and deserves praise.
@yogobog
Why dostoyevsky as an example? Out of all writers in BSD you chose the xenophobic and the most boring one😭😭😭😭/not neg to you, just as a person from country, which was colonised by russia for centuries that's hurtful
@mzritsk_
Well, sadly even art history is written by the victors and you can't really say a more famous, pretentious sounding classical lit name than his, I assume that's why they chose him. In modern eyes most of them are rather problematic for one reason or another, esp the western ones
@yogobog
i have a few of dostoevsky booms, agatha christie and jules verne books?? im currently reading c&p and my fave book is an agatha chirstie one, what's the issue with reading those books like fr
@yogobog
I would read Alexander Dumas at a young age, did I understand most of the things said? No. But that's how people learn, they get into it and start understanding. Idk why people think it's such a crime for young people to read classic lit, it's very good!
@yogobog
Dostoevsky books isn't that bad for 13 y/o but hypothetically if we're talking about someone who just got into reading, i think they should read a more lighter topic to understand it better (not a children books obviously) but honestly, who cares? it's good that they're reading–
@yogobog
but a 13 year old wouldn't understand Dostoyevsky, wouldn't relate w the struggles of the protagonists, the book C&P has also very traumatic content like graphic animal suffering and murdr, probably not good idea to read that at 13.
