Full story. My friend was job hunting for almost 6 months, he finally got a remote job at a Nigerian company. I'm sharing first-hand experience because this is my best friend.

He was employed on ‘probation’ as the social media team lead for an agreed compensation of 75 thousand naira to be increased to 110k after two months. This employment term alone was crazy but like I said he's been job hunting for a while so he took it.

Barely one month in, the complaints started coming in. They employed him as a social media team lead but turned him into graphic designer, video editor, content planner, all on a 75k ‘probation’ salary.

I encouraged him to manage while we searched for something better but it got worse. He started getting more frustrated and burnt out because despite his efforts, nothing was good enough for the founder.

Some content he produced were approved and posted on the official account, but most of it was thrown out. He was getting insults, warnings, being scolded like a child on a daily basis. He became scared to even open the team discord/founders' text messages.

How can one function in such a space? Constantly in doubt of your skill and competence.

It became clear that the job/founder was messing with his overall wellbeing. There was no alignment between what the founder wanted and what he was producing, so we decided it was best to leave.

The two weeks elapsed and he kept reaching out daily for his remuneration. This is was the response that has triggered this outpour from me. ‘words like please and thank you’ for money he worked for!

My friend didn't want any of this, and in his usual calm way he told me to let it go. But no, I can't. If there's anything I hate in my life it's oppression, and this won't fly. People like Femi need to be kicked off their high horse.

You cant have this perfect image to the world when you're a terrible human being, you're not fit to manage a business.

@ynnx___ This was the point he messed up, he must be inexperienced... You don't tender resignation for that kind of person, just collect your salary and stop working, if possible, just switch your phone off for days... He can't get that money with ease...
