Work from @minouye271's lab describes limited improvement in disease risk prediction when incorporating gut microbiome data . However, I think similar to GWAS, variants with small effects can still reveal important disease biology. Exciting space to follow https://t.co/lw6t8CIcdq

Do individuals with high or low genetic risk respond the same to behavior/environmental changes? A very cool study led by @naito_tatsuhiko, @okada_yukinori lab reveals that inds with high PRS do not necessarily benefit the most from lifestyle changes.

Excited to hear @AnaDomingosLab’s work on the same day it appears in @Nature #LabtoClinic! Brain signals via peripheral NPY help sustain energy burn, independent of food intake. Key #weightloss tip: burning energy can be more crucial than losing appetite. https://t.co/LYzIRxpZCh

It’s time that we start to understand better the biology mechanisms behind how environmental factors affect our immune responses. Here, we highlight a recent effort published @Nature @NatureNV
It emerges from a study of human cells that smoking can influence certain immune responses to the same extent as can age or genetics. Smoking can alter the immune system in ways that persist long after quitting the habit
