Exhibit A of why/how online “zoophile” witch-hunting has gotten out of hand. Someone openly, in bad faith follow-policing leading directly to speculation that person is a“zoophile” with ZERO evidence.
Y’all have officially watered down the word & helped real zoophiles. Congrats.
Being falsely canceled for heinous shit can be seriously life-ruining because ONE person just saying “well ___ is a zoophile” snowballs in online circles because SO many people take shit online at face value. The mental, physical, and financial anguish that I have seen it cause/
For people on the receiving end makes this godawful trend nothing short of deplorable. I’ve already seen people blindly believe the connections insinuated in the screenshots above. “But I only said ___” is a smoke bomb to cover one’s ass.
And what happens when we, as a community, are —CONSTANTLY— barraged by this? We turn a blind eye. People that do real harm get skipped over because there is such a fatigue to CONSTANTLY seeing this stuff. So many people probably have the words muted.
In my experience, the people that constantly drag others onto the podium for a flogging are either: 1- casting aspersions to hide/make up for their own failings and the microscope they’ve been under for them, or 2- Way overly leaning on their sense of justice to feel fulfilled.
It bears repeating CONSTANTLY that: there is so SO much more people can and should be spending their energy on than finding ways to make sure everyone knows they’re on top of the Moral Corectness leaderboard.
You can retweet good causes and STILL be wasting your time tearing people down with false equivalencies. You can make faux activism “Remember; Free Palestine” tweets and still be divvying your time between that and trying to ruin the lives of undeserving community members.
For every “they’re friends with __ and that’s sus,” SOMEONE with lack of critical thinking decides they’re no-question a zoophile, the “uh aren’t they a zoo” doofus that scrolled through memes during the ‘citations’portion of research writing HARMS people.
Not to mention, I have worked in veterinary circles, fine arts, and the general public and NO ONE viciously nitpicks the definition of “zoophile” like furries. Vet staff laugh about a dog’s funny looking scrotum. About some female dogs needing a “vag lift.”/
Artists paint mating rabbits and craft a long statement on their experience and trauma with sex. Fuck- a random passerby will laugh at the way a dog’s butthole puckers when it barks. ANY of these examples lean far more “incriminating” in the furry world than they have any right.
Yet these people persist in smearing otherwise harmless individuals online for not fitting their own prescribed views of what is Moral and Right. Stay in your own goddamn lane and stop causing pile-ups.
Kay thread muting time!! If u hate me and my thread so bad go take a walk outside or something, idk.
Share some good vibes or a good cause to your feed instead of garbage people.
@wryote
This is why critical thinking is important
Someone can spread a lie about someone else and face 0 consequences. There are whole echo chambers that just, BELIVE each other.
Leaving one accused of CRIME on their name- /a LIE/ treated like fact by 100s of ppl who dont fact check
@wryote
Especially when you follow a lot of people, you 99% of the time don't even know most of who you follow.
And most of them might never show up on your algorithm timeline.
So, just dm and warn them don't do that shit and jump to conclusions
