The honest truth is that everyone is at a point where they have to prove themselves again. Banking on your past fans and achievements isn’t enough anymore.

@wowthatshiphop I’ve been a Joey fan since 2012 and listened to Capital Steez before he passed. As much as I hate to say it, yes… Multi year hiatuses definitely impact fan loyalty. Last album had a couple joints I really fw, the rest of the album sounds like Joey experimenting

@wowthatshiphop Agreed. Everyone has to evolve. It’s new levels to reach now. And no matter how anyone feels, Drake & Kendrick are still the top 2 and the highest performers

@wowthatshiphop Fair, but I don’t think that’s the reason tbh. People like Earl & MIKE capitalise on their core fanbase when it comes to tours and what not, without being as big as Joey. The big difference is that they put out music their fans love, while Joey put out his worst album yet (1/2)

@wowthatshiphop No. Everyone is at a point where rap is no longer as popular as it used to be and you niggas are terrified of that cause rap is half of the black community’s identity

@wowthatshiphop Do we even know the reason this tour was cancelled? "Due to circumstances outside our control," and Rapsody saying the cancellation was not about ticket sales, makes me think it could be something else entirely...

@wowthatshiphop I feel like as long as you’re putting work out there your goal should always be to prove you belong. Complacency is one of the main reasons artists fizzle away at the end of it all

@wowthatshiphop He don’t work hard enough. He don’t got the privilege of disappearing for years then dropping.

@wowthatshiphop Tbh Joey is a good rapper but his music doesn’t have any replay value lately. It’s boring 🥱

@wowthatshiphop Well he dropped an album after years of nothing, hiatus after hiatus no consistency, then drops with no rollout or leadup. Most joey fans used to be die hard but they grew up and half moved on

@wowthatshiphop I mean but people r not marketable these days b/c there isn’t anyone marketing them. Ur left on ur own to figure out how to stick which is hard these days due to attention span…they just want u to pop on sm and that effect may get u up but it doesn’t last there’s no investment
