Great session on long-term outcomes after critical illness, and fun discussion specifically about goal-concordant care. Thanks also to @erinkkross and @cj_creutzfeldt, looking forward to our next steps! #ATS2023
@whitneykiker → 🎯 to better understand family-assessed goal-concordant care (FAGCC). 🔑 FAGCC was present for 69% of ICU pts 🔑 ↑ FAGCC when patient was older and higher family member reported self-efficacy 🔑 ↓ FAGCC in patients who preferred comfort care #ATS2023

Hoop Friday is here to stay
My amazing MICU team decided to all wear hoop earring today. We dubbed it “hoop Friday”. Coincidence that the more experience team members had, the larger the hoops! ✨☺️1/2#hoopfriday #WomenInMedicine @uw_chiefs

Another insightful contribution to the neuropalliative care field from @RutzVoumard, @cj_creutzfeldt, @JRandallCurtis1, @DuggerKaley, and @RalfJox. Very fortunate to be part of this team!
1 week after severe acute #braininjury, regardless of goals, families reported care was focused on extending life. Led by @RutzVoumard with @cj_creutzfeldt @FrontNeurol #neuropalcare #neurocritical #palliative #hapc #neurology #medtwitter #neurotwitter

Fielding transfer requests has hands down been the hardest part of working in the MICU this month. So much respect and appreciation for those working in the community on the front lines.
“We don’t have any MICU beds.” “I understand. We’ll manage.” Hats off to intensivists at community hospitals all over the PNW who are making these calls, hearing our response, and going back to the bedside to continue delivering care to patients with COVID ARDS.

Glad to work in a profession that lets me wear blue pajamas daily and not get too worked up about fashion
The fashion industry is a huge contributor to the climate-and ecological emergency, not to mention its impact on the countless workers and communities who are being exploited around the world in order for some to enjoy fast fashion that many treat as disposables. 1/3

About to submit another manuscript on racial disparities in end-of-life care. Was reminded by this article of how often academic papers fail to call out racism as the root cause of disparities. An important read for all who write and read these studies

Racism structures every facet of US life, including health and health care. Yet, despite racism’s alarming impacts and the wealth of scholarship that outlines its ill effects, preeminent scholars and...
