Gold's value comes from its long history, scarcity, divisibility, and limited supply. Bitcoin is a newer, digital gold with the same properties, but easier to transfer online. It won't take long for Bitcoin to catch up.

Nixon's 1971 suspension of gold convertibility was meant to be temporary. The Civil War income tax was a temporary wartime measure. Deficit spending was designed for recessions, not constant use. Now these measures are now permanent, making it harder for the average to thrive.
