Posing is a little strong, maybe? Those first few albums are pretty rough and folksy. He was committed to the look if it was a bit. The Mellow Gold 10-year anniversary documentary is a great watch.

Yes and no. His dad didn't really become a big deal until well after Beck was born, and at least early on, it seems like he was legitimately a weirdo folk guy who got lucky.
