Very grateful for the opportunity given by DBT-TWAS @DBTIndia @TWASnews to pursue my PhD under the supervision of Prof. Swati Patankar @BsbeIitb @patankar_lab . Had a wonderful experience at the first DBT-TWAS conclave and loved meeting all the other TWAS fellows.
Thanks to DBT-TWAS, we had Vishakha Dey in our lab for her PhD. She finished recently and is now back in Bangladesh as a scientist at the ICDDR.

T. brucei contains only two genes with introns. Makes you wonder whether these introns have a biological function.
For the first time, the Bartel and Fink labs @WhiteheadInst find a biological role for full-length, excised introns — challenging the idea that they’re simply byproducts of gene expression, destined for rapid degradation. The paper appears in @nature: https://t.co/zi8HqYuBqU

Telomeres, DNA segments at the end of eukaryotic chromosomes, are associated with aging. The rates at which they shorten (pictured below) may be a predictor of species lifespan, a new study suggests. In PNAS: https://t.co/lNvFphlqjU
