If the product you are using has multiple different (but very similar!) models available for the same task, it is probably prioritising novelty more than quality.

I think model selectors will be remembered in the same way that we remember that weird period in 2023 where every AI product seemed to be a thin facade, hiding the fact it was GPT-4 or Claude 2 under the hood. All novelty. Becomes annoying once you start using it as a tool.
