Be picky, but not for the sake of being picky. Don’t confuse time spent sourcing candidates with finding better candidates. Some of the best hires I’ve made are people I met briefly at an event, moved into a contract role, and then converted to full time. Time kills all deals.

If you’re not building a 20+ person team, hire generalists who can move between workstreams easily, if you lack a key technical skill set like programmatic media buying, it’s on you as the leader of the org to fill that gap with a vendor resource, or by learning it yourself.
