Last week we had the chance to host a jitsi conference on Null Island regarding the setup of a Packet Broker instance or cluster to support TTN communities in Germany. Members of several communities participated. @thebowmen also wrote a Blog post about it.

Service Tweet: Do you know that your @mikrotik_com LoRaWAN GW has a watchdog function that can check accessability of an IP address and otherwise restarts. Very helpful when uplink is unstable. Config here: system > watchdog. Would have saved me going up to the top of the tower😂

Today we try out a new gateway distribution on the island. We call it 'nautilus' formation. We want to try if this distribution supports reception of circular polarized #LoRaWAN signals better. #TheThingsNetwork #NullIsland

Fun fact: As our gateways on Null Island are exactly located on the equator, mounting antennas is done a little bit different compared to how it is done in northern or southern hemisphere. See an example of a ground plane antenna compensating for the tilt of the surface normal.
