the "disney's first openly gay character" joke is funny cause disney actually had a major animated film with an openly gay protagonist but it was so aggressively undermarketed that it flopped so hard that nobody remembered

yes i know the joke started before the movie came out but it kept going! people are still doing it now!

@tredlocity I mean it was pretty paint by numbers/predictable the whole way through. It was a really "safe" movie. But I really enjoyed it too. It was fun.

@tredlocity i think it was honestly a bit bold for the message to be "if we dont switch to renewable energy the planet will fucking die"

@tredlocity Yeah, I always saw and see people shitting on the movie and then I saw it and the worst thing I could say about it was it had some pacing issues It's so over hated

@tredlocity I mean, it was a pretty well realized pulpy style of adventure story, and it actively dealt with Father's And Son's and The Weight of Legacy in a really compelling way. I sincerely think it's gonna be Atlantis for Alphas

@tredlocity It was an okay movie. Not counting peoples’ blatant homophobia, I could see why some didn’t like it, but it wasn’t terrible.

@tredlocity It had some cool stuff going on but all of it was trapped in a carefully curated collection of tropes, like, I don't think anyone in the writing room cared much about that movie. Someone needs to do a remake of it that actually has some soul
