What we found? Dendrites aren’t smooth tubes - they have abrupt diameter drops like spine necks, but on the shaft. We call them Dendritic Shaft Constrictions (DSCs). Found in hippocampal & cortical neurons, they compartmentalise branches. #Neuroscience #Morphology #BrainResearch

Dendrites have been under the microscope, since 1888. We took it further and put dendrites under 3 different microscopes (ExM, STED, EM) and reconstructed entire branches to reveal fine nanoscale details. #SuperResolution #ElectronMicroscopy #Morphology.
