Sometimes people ask why we report the kinds of stories we report.
Having the writing staffs of late night talk shows find them online isn’t the main reason, but it’s a damn good one. 😀
My favorite Caitlin Clark highlight in this game is her running to get back on defense before Gabbie even gets the ball in her hands.
The great ones just know when it’s going in.
Spencer Petras was 21-31 for 247 yards, a TD and no INTs against the
#4
team in the nation.
Criticize the season as a whole if you must, but you can’t hang yesterday on him.
First reaction: they’re honoring the man who invented the tigerhawk by...removing the tigerhawk?
Second reaction: this is a perfect symbolism to illustrate the loss of the man who invented the tigerhawk.
TD TEAM PADILLA. Kaleb Johnson goes beast mode to put Team Padilla in full control of this wacky simulation. It’s 27-7 Team Padilla over Team Petras here in the fourth quarter.

My mom works as a cashier at the Waterfront Hy-Vee and has characterized the Murray twins and several other Iowa men’s and woman’s basketball players as “good kids” and I think we should respect her judgement.
I JUST found out Kari Lake graduated from the University of Iowa…and we crossed over by at least one year. (She would have been a senior when I was a freshman.)
She strikes me as a One Eyed Jake’s regular.
Class of ‘26 G Maddyn Greenway out of Plymouth, MN has been offered by Iowa after she attended the Iowa Elite Camp yesterday.
Daughter of former Iowa LB Chad Greenway.
He’s right. One time a Nebraska fan’s car broke down outside Pagliai’s and a bunch of us just beat him to death and buried his body by the Coralville Reservoir.
Mom is making a list of the football players who are nice to her in her checkout line at the grocery store so she can remember their names. ❤️
(Make fun of her spelling and get blocked.)
Sir, I watched a bowl game last night where a giant Pop Tart took its own life to feed the Kansas State players.
I’m not watching bowl games for the teams at this point.
Shoutout to all of the Iowa fans going out of their way to watch Iowa State’s bowl game today after going the entire season trying to convince us that they don’t care about ISU 🙌🏼
Just for fun, here’s a picture of Kinnick Stadium (then Iowa Stadium) from 1930. Taken from the north looking south, as you can see the airport on the top left and the railroad tracks on the right.
Matt Rhule on Kirk and Brian Ferentz: I can't tell you how much respect I have for Brian and Kirk. They never let it be about anything other than their team. Great coaches. Great leaders and they protect those they lead. Stand out front and take arrows... that's what they do.
LOCAL HERO: Following a destructive storm, this restaurant owner in Iowa started driving to devastated neighborhoods to cook free meals for the community.
Feels like a good time to remind everyone that if you are attending a sporting event and masks are required, wear the damn mask. Don’t argue with security and go off on a rant about the Democrats and Johnson County liberals.
(This tweet is not aimed at anyone in particular.)
So when I started working this morning Iowa State Twitter was furious about a fan wearing an Iowa T-shirt at their game last night. By the time I get home we find out the guy was actually an Iowa State fan who lost a bet over last week’s game.
Proof that news is always evolving.
Right now on the UI campus thousands of students are holding a vigil to remember a classmate killed by a male who felt dominant over a woman.
Simultaneously, Ohio State University is holding a news conference to explain why enabling a similar male is worth a 3-game suspension.
The idea of having young journalists cut their teeth by covering small town. news is wonderful. You can do all the crime and UI stories you want, but there are other skills you fan learn by covering small town city council meetings and community events.
