My grandpa used to say “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.” The 1st time I was old enough to get it, I said “That’s not fair!” He said “Exactly! So make it your life’s work to ensure everyone meets each other.” He’s 2 decades gone, but I’m still at it. #advocacy #MedEd

@tmprowell I love him. And I love the idea of forging new connections, especially if it means bringing people from the margins to the center.

@tmprowell Your grandpa may be correct. People are promoted not quite for their competence but for color of skin, and l for academic affiliation. Hopefully, one day one day a true equality would truly exist in our beloved country the USA just as in the French anthem. Bless MLK.

@tmprowell I was well into my 40's before I acknowledged that smarts and hard work are not enough - not enough to get you to the top tier. You need others. You need a champion. You just do.

@tmprowell I just started following you today because of what you said to patient who should have crossed over by now, according to what doctors told him. Your statement showed that your heart is in the right place.
