For the last 72-ish hours or so, I’ve been working on trying to design cancer drugs – I got started on it with the @adaptyvbio contest, and got super interested enough to continue after the contest closed! Here’s a thread on some background biology, what I’ve tried so far, and

Biotechnology is about the predictable engineering of life, such that we can protect it and proliferate it through the Universe. Biotechnology ought to cure all complex diseases (so far, we have cured zero.) It ought to prevent infectious diseases, and remove needless suffering

Looking forward to this! The issue of tokenization of DNA has been one that’s been in my head for a while now – this was something I wrote a year ago. While there have been many wonderful methods published since I wrote this, I’m super excited to see what’s in store here!
DNA is a language with all linguistics features, but its vocabulary are just not the K-mers for obvious reasons. We have something really interesting to share soon. Stay tuned!

Participated in this last year, had five or so designs characterized in the wet lab. Easily one of the best hands-on AI-bio experiences I had early on – if you're new and trying to get your hands wet with protein design, 100% check this out, absolutely absolutely worth it
🌍 The biggest decentralized science experiment of 2025 is starting now! The protein design competition returns: we’re inviting scientists, engineers, and hackers from around the world to help design new proteins capable of neutralizing the Nipah virus, a pathogen with up to 75%

"Editing cells to make anything we want" is a moonshot vision that many, many smart people have worked towards for many years – however, thus far, gene editing and metabolic engineering have largely been more art than science, stretching experiments and commercial scale-up

Major cheat code in life: Be the one who reaches out. Text first. Call first. Plan first. Initialize first. Most people wait to be chosen. Be the chooser. Connection requires initiative. Friendship requires effort. Love requires action. Stop waiting to be picked. Start picking.

I'm looking to raise 1.2k$ in the next 2 weeks to be able to pay urgent bills. Any amount will help! Would love to build AI agents for you, help with development, or do sales! Please let me know! Will do anything to help, ready to jump on a call any time.

AI is rapidly accelerating scientific discovery and contributing to the effort to better understand cancer. We're proud to announce two major open-source breakthroughs from @GoogleResearch and @GoogleDeepMind that demonstrate the immense potential of AI in this field: First,

Check this out! Rooting for this team, extremely smart people and some of my closest friends from uni
Introducing Axis: the first AI model that generates regulatory DNA elements and predicts their function. Gene therapies suffer from poor efficacy, toxicity & specificity. Models like Axis can help overcome such risks. Axis beats Google DeepMind's AlphaGenome at predicting

How do protein language models (PLM) think about proteins?🧬 We answer this w/ #InterPLM, just published in @naturemethods! Using sparse autoencoders + LLM agent, we identify 1000s of interpretable concepts learned by PLMs, pointing to new biology 🧵

Super necessary, related to my paper as well. Have been privately sharing it w/ folks, will post updates soon!
Published today in @ScienceMagazine: a landmark study led by Microsoft scientists with partners, showing how AI-powered protein design could be misused—and presenting first-of-its-kind red teaming & mitigations to strengthen biosecurity in the age of AI.

Over the past week, @arcinstitute published three new discoveries that I’m very proud of. • The world's first functional AI-generated genomes. Using Evo 2 (the largest biology ML model ever trained, which Arc released in partnership with @nvidia in February), Arc scientists

Antibodies need to not only bind strongly to their target, but also be manufacturable, stable and safe. 📢In a tutorial co-authored with @huggingface, we go through the process of training a simple antibody developability model using foundation model embeddings (1/3)
