Adding a decodable StoryWalk to outreach initiatives is a great way to generate discussions & education about literacy. We provided supplemental activities & swag as well as literacy packets with BRI & other resources. The 1st sign explains decodables. #communityliteracysolutions

I cringe when literacy is framed as political. Pressure builds — even in blue states — to reform Schools of Education, reinstall phonics training via @collegefix.

@LylesNoah Wow! Thank YOU for being so open as a role model. My son has dyslexia & I'm on the Board of @teachmykid2read helping to bring decodable books to public libraries to help new and struggling readers. No one should be left out of learning to read.

We tell this story in every region we present. It's a typical pattern. Until we can throw a dart in a district and help all our kids learn to read, we've got a problem of inequity. Librarians, parents & caregivers need to be part of the solution.

We’re thrilled to be part of the literacy initiative in Pennsylvania State Senate District 44. Ten public libraries are creating collections of decodable books. The schools have also been provided with resources to support their curricula. #Literacy

I’m so enjoying @phonicbooks Lost in Paris. It’s a treat to read. Nobody is sucking the joy of reading from kids learning to read with SoR. Teaching literacy skills with misaligned curriculum and resources is withholding the joy of becoming a reader.
