.@_PHAA_ a public health success story - a significant milestone to celebrate, as we gather in Perth next week for our annual Australian Public Health Conference
15 years today since implementation of folate fortification in Australia, with outstanding health benefits. Congratulations to researchers (especially Carol Bower and Fiona Stanley), Ministers, health department colleagues, campaigners, journalists and all who played a part.

Thanks to all involved. Totally unexpected, and so much appreciated.
My friend & colleague Prof Mike Daube has been a pivotal figure in national and international tobacco control for 50 years. We published this tribute in @TC_BMJ to mark his powerful influence across this time

Congratulations to @carolinemiller0 who has been elected as the next @_PHAA_ President! Our vital multidisciplinary organisation is in good hands. Thanks to all who nominated for Board positions. See you in Perth at national conference in September :)

Agreed. Non-disclosure agreements for consultations like these are unprecedented, unnecessary and heavy handed. Who is asking for them? Who benefits? @_PHAA_ @CroakeyNews
Bizarre. In more than 50 years with governments, academe and NGOs nobody has ever even suggested signing non-disclosure agreements - which also now give the gambling industry an excuse to avoid responding to media.

Excellent news. On first reading, two major firsts are specific definition of ‘pandemic emergency’ (linked to PH emergency of international concern), and broad definition of ‘relevant health products’ (with commitment to facilitate access). @_PHAA_ @CroakeyNews Congrats to all!

Good to see Australia’s Minister for Health @Mark_Butler_MP supporting the launch of the new @WHO Investment Case, which will require substantial new and upfront investment from governments & other funders @_PHAA_
Today, we launched a new @WHO Investment Case, which, if fully funded and implemented, could contribute to saving 40 million lives over four years. It underpins our first ever Investment Round, which we launched earlier this week. https://t.co/FFYhTACSj4

Best single and understandable summary of where we’re up to with #pandemictreaty - and what’s at stake @_PHAA_
A new draft of the Pandemic Agreement, an accord under deliberation with World Health Organization member states, leaked earlier this week. With final negotiations set for late April, @alexandraphelan and @nschwalbe explain the nuances behind the text.
