Ball of mud is the world's most popular software architecture. The one we all use at work while we debate perfection online. But a ball of mud sucks to work with. So what do you do? People. https://t.co/6u5wUeOtG6

I like how startups started talking about ARR instead of valuation. Best part of the current hype cycle ❤️

One thing we no longer talk about is position vs knowledge power. The idea that people with authority should listen to people with knowledge felt radical in the 90’s

So I finished High Output Management by Andy Grove last night. Great read, feels like every management book since has been its cover song. ✅ outcomes > outputs ✅ OKRs ✅ delegate decisions

Remember when AI was gonna take our jobs? I've never felt busier. The more I get done, the more there is to do. https://t.co/8r25IEwD3R

Alternatively: How do you design a humans+computers system such that it is self-rebalancing and stays well architected 🤔 I think this is 80% team structure

At work they want me to Fix Our Codebase, but I think the task is really to teach 👇 to a bunch of folks who haven’t worked on a big thing before

I encourage everyone – especially managers – to understand that we all stoop to the level of our incentives. You get what you incentivize. Want to get shit done? Reward shippers Want endless meetings? Reward talkers
I encourage everyone — especially junior developers — to internalize that "talking in meetings" is more valuable than "shipping faster" and companies are rational to reward the former over the latter https://t.co/ImPY4YlyEj

Felt heavy and slow today. Forgot to wear my hat, forgot to eat gel, got too much sun, 😩

I should write about how we use AI to ship faster. The useful bits are becoming quite apparent

Buy a bike they said it’ll be fun they said Now it’s leaking oil and the amount of “oh yeah” I heard from the mechanics sounds expensive 😅

You can always tell when I haven't published a blog in a while because my slacks, meeting notes, and project updates start getting long 😅
