Absolutely thrilled that

Big day out in the middle today and a vital 7-wicket win at

A massive congratulations to
@georgywalks
who has now reached the milestone of 500 appearances for the club, the majority of them for the first XI. Well done Walks 👏👏👏
At our annual awards dinner held at
@Brasteds
last night
@Peter_Lambo13
was named 2019 Premier XI player of the year and the winner of the Chris Bean Cup. He was presented with the trophy by
@Lewey_Denmark
. Top work Lambo.
Bound to be a sentimental one as it will be last game at The Common for our skipper
@joegatting
as he has made the decision not to come to the UK next year. We are saying goodbye to Joe at the clubhouse next Saturday after the
@HorsfordCC
away game. Pop along and wish him well.
Delighted to have honoured Peter Thomas
@bigpete502002
with honorary life membership of the club at our awards dinner. Big Pete has contributed more than an incredible 50 years service to Swardeston both as player and official.
At last night's annual meeting, trustees delighted to report that Peter Thomas BEM had accepted their invitation to become Club President. Pete keeps the Thomas tradition going, following dad Sonny & mum Ros, our last president, who sadly passed away last March. Good luck Pete.
Delighted to announce the signing of Lewis Reeder. Lewis moves to us from
@brookeccnorwich
where he has played for the last 2 years in the
@NfkCA
Premier Division. A right-arm bowling all-rounder Lewis is the current
@NorwichSchool
1st XI captain.
More:
Thank you to all who have sent through their messages of congratulations. There are too many to respond to each but we just want to say we are definitely feeling the love today and last night.
Following this
@ECB_cricket
announcement yesterday, as reigning 2019
@Vitality_UK
Club T20 champions we are thrilled to say we have been invited to take part in ECL21 by
@EuropeanCricket
. Proud, honoured and once again very excited to receive the invite.
Very pleased to report that
@joegatting25
has signed on the dotted line for a further three years with us. Joe joined Swardeston in 2016 and became 1st XI captain last year.
Truly at a loss to read this news. Hood spent 5 years with us from 2005-2009, scored some important runs, took some vital wickets but made so many friends. Many of those will be deeply saddened at Darin's loss. He remained a wonderful friend and supporter of the club.
So deeply saddened to learn last night of the tragic death of
@allindave1
. Dave was a wonderful supporter of the club whether down The Common or on the road. He was with us only 5 days ago at the victory over
@BexleyCC
. All our thoughts & condolences go to his family and friends.
Wishing all the best to Alfie Cooper
@minicoops404
as he has headed off to Adelaide this winter for some cricket action. Alfie will be playing at
@TTGDCC
where
@joegatting25
played last winter. News tomorrow of another
@SwardestonCC
player in Oz this winter.
Tomorrow (10.45am) ahead of our
@cricket_EAPL
match v
@GtWitchinghamCC
we will be holding a minute's silence to honour the memory of our Club President Mrs Ros Thomas, who sadly died in March. All welcome to join us.
Fantastic result from the boys, our third national club T20 finals in 10 years. Well played lads. Well played
@sloughcc
and good luck for the rest of the season.
Really pleased to announce that
@georgywalks
has been appointed a club Trustee. Been at the club 22 years and delighted to have him on board.

Very proud
@_alfiecooper_
has been named player of the year at the AGM of
@norfolkccc
. Alfie is currently in Australia and parents were away so club chair
@stuartbartram1
did the honours in receiving The Richard Lane Cup from Norfolk President Gail Armstrong. Well done Alfie.
Landmark week for President
@bigpete502002
&
@carolathomas21
as they attended a Buckingham Palace garden party to celebrate the British Empire Medal Peter was awarded for grassroots cricket in the 2020 New Year’s Honours List. Congrats Big Pete. Good to see the club tie on parade
It was a pleasure to honour umpire Keith Greensides yesterday as he officiated in his last ever
@Cecil_Amey
@nfkca
game. Both
@SwardestonCC
and
@BecclesTownCC
teams provided a guard of honour at the start of play after Keith had rung the bell to signal the start of the match.
SIGNING NEWS: Very pleased to announce that Adam Todd has joined the club. Adam joins us from
@VauxMallardsCC
where he spent 9 years before the club's decision to fold at the end of last summer. Welcome to the club Adam, here's to a great 2020!
Thinking of the Thomas family today. Although the memorial service for our club president Ros, scheduled for today, was postponed, the family went ahead with the cremation service for the immediate family. RIP Ros. Thanks to Ros's grandaughter
@CaitlinThelwell
for use of the pix.
A big thank you to the team at
@NorfolkCB
@NfkCA
and the Norfolk League for coming together to organise some cricket in this shortened season. A great countywide initiative which helped to put a smile on the end of a difficult summer for local cricket.
Great news! Our very own Captain Marvel
@bethany_harmer
has been selected for this year’s Essex CCC Women’s squad. We are so, so proud of you! We have no doubt you’ll do yourself and
@SwardestonCC
proud.

Landmark reached on Saturday for
@kevinpcooper
as he passed 10,000 runs recorded on play-cricket for the club. Bound to be many more from matches back in the day before play cricket. Well done Coops – a fantastic effort.
Had a few opportunities over the years to perfect our champagne spraying technique but this lovely photo from
@normbygrave
captures the sheer joy of us winning our eighth
@ThurlowNunnEAPL
title. Well done fellers.
Always time for a chat on the boundary edge of a
@NfkCA
match for these two. Lawrence DeCoteau of
@SwardestonCC
and Mick Piggott of
@ThetfordTownCri
catching up. Great photo Dale Clarke.
Well batted
@_alfiecooper_
for
@norfolkccc
today in their match v Essex 2s at

. 51 from 55 balls including 6 fours and one six. Essex 361-5, Norfolk 239.
Watch Alfie's six:
It is with great sadness that we have to report that our beloved President Ros Thomas passed away today. Ros, who was 92, took over as President in 2011 when her husband Sonny died but her impact on the club stretches much further back. More:
We paid tribute to former chairman
@mtswardeston
at our annual dinner at
@Brasteds
. Mark stepped down as chair after 14 years in December. Delighted to make him an honorary life member. What a great innings! Thanks MT.
Big shout out to
@BBCNorfolk
's
@CGoreham
who put in a 12-hour plus shift on Sunday to cover finals day (that's without the travel!). Huge appreciation from all at the club for the coverage. Here he is interviewing
@Lewey_Denmark
after the win. Cheers Chris.
We are thrilled to announced our 15-strong squad to represent the East Midlands region in this summer’s Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy. ⚡

This man
@Callumjtaylor12

Club T20 final. 22 runs then awesome figures of 5-18 from 4 overs. One year ago today.
Best of luck to

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning
We will remember them.
We remember all who lost lives but especially Nurse Edith Cavell & the 10 soldiers from our parish.
