I wrote this for @nowtoronto to amplify the call for prisoner releases not endless "lockdowns" that trap prisoners inside their cells for 22/hrs daily. Public policy designed to flatten the curve remains incomplete w/o mass releases. https://t.co/WBmIqrX05A via @nowtoronto

Today, a jury did the right thing. But true justice requires much more. Michelle and I send our prayers to the Floyd family, and we stand with all those who are committed to guaranteeing every American the full measure of justice that George and so many others have been denied.

This is a false & extremely dangerous narrative being peddled by @JohnTory that will harm Black communities. Directing courts to misapply bail laws does nothing but further entrench poverty & despair. There is so much YOUR gov. can do, Mr. Mayor.

Let's start with the repeal of *some* MMS. This is a good thing. It will save court time, allow for more conditional sentences, and restore judicial discretion. Many of these sentences have previously been found unconstitutional.
