@billybragg @SVPhillimore @crit_gen What an astonishing position. To allow others to express an opinion gives licence for abusive behaviour? But, uniquely, men turning up and screaming at women and drowning them out with sound systems to stop them speaking likely isn’t? I’m at a loss here.

I have had two abortions. I support any woman's right to an abortion. I also support the rights of people who do NOT agree with abortion. I support their right to campaign to outlaw it. As long as they support my rights to disagree. It is astonishing how many appear to think…

@SVPhillimore Does your idea of "telling people what they don't want to hear" extend to supporting the right of anti-abortionists to stand outside clinics with megaphones harassing women?

@billybragg No. Of course not. Now, I await for you to condemn the men who turn up at women's gatherings playing loud music and screaming at them.

@SVPhillimore That would be their right to disagree, which you claim to support.

@crit_gen @SVPhillimore No, but I'd be interested to hear where you think the line between the two stands, in law.

@billybragg @crit_gen It’s relatively easy to understand the principles, difficult sometimes to apply them I accept. But let me walk you through it. Article 10 ECHR rights of free speech are fundamental to all other rights and gain very high protection. But they are not absolute. Free speech cannot be…

@billybragg @crit_gen interesting. You don't think men screaming abuse at women, threatening to sexually assault them or hurt them, should be a criminal offence? Is this just because you approve of what you perceive to be those men's motivations? Do you see any problem with this? Any at all?

@SVPhillimore @crit_gen I don’t think such behaviour is acceptable which kinda backs up my point: when you claim that liberty means the right to tell people what they don’t want to hear you’re giving licence for abusive behaviour both online and irl
