That's just some of what's possible in the new PublishPress Permissions. There's several plugins can do this, but we think you'll love the UI in this new update. Colorful, modern, and easy to use ✅ https://t.co/zEjlHhaLJ8

Om posted a big article this week, comparing OpenClaw to WordPress. He's very bullish on the open source side of AI:

Josh from Pantheon (I don't think he's on X now) shared numbers from a normal week day at Pantheon. Here's how many pages they served: 93 million to Meta's AI bot 40 million to OpenAI 31 million to Claude 30 milion to Google And all those numbers are going up fast 🚀

My memory is failing any me ... anyone remember the last time a new table was added to the WordPress core? Maybe _termmeta at least a decade ago? https://t.co/POx07Vt9SK

The real-time collaboration sync layer currently stores messages as post meta, which works but creates side effects at scale. This moves it to two dedicated tables - wp_collaboration for sync messa...

It looks like the Google Docs-style editing feature in WordPress 7.0 may bring a very rare change: a new database table. There's currently 12 tables in a normal WordPress install. The new table will be _sync_storage.

Do you need to lock down WordPress posts so only a few people can edit or view them? We're about to make that super-easy with the PublishPress Permissions plugin. With one click you can either enable or block access to any user or user role:

Scott KC has posted his thoughts on this. For example, the feature could be automatically disabled for sites with only one author. With about a month left until WordPress 7.0 arrives, now's a great time to test this feature and send your feedback: https://t.co/HZTGB44KwO

WordPress 7.0 will absolutely, 100% get the new Google Docs-style editing. Authors will be able to work together in real time on a post. The discussion now is around whether it's going to be enabled by default. It's not unusual for such a major new feature to be opt-in at first.

Those criteria may change. This is being led by Nick Hamze and he's active in the WordPress Slack account, listening to suggestions to make this better. And it's working. These cool new plugins are seeing real spikes in their download numbers.

The plugins have to meet five criteria: - Active installs: fewer than 10,000 - Age: listed in the directory for 12 months or less - No open security vulnerabilities - Compatible with the current major release of WordPress - Updated within the last 6 months

Next time you log in to WordPress, check the "Plugins" tab. You'll see 8 cool new plugins. I constantly hear that it's really difficult to grow new plugins on the WordPress plugin directory now. The old plugins get all the attention. This is an effort to change that.

After a lot of testing, we've found a way to do this with almost any theme. Check out the difference in the images above. MetaSlider users can now move between those options with just a click:

Most WordPress sites have a boxed layout for posts. There's a narrow central area, then room for sidebars and padding. A lot of @wpmetaslider users want something different. They're looking showcase their images and videos using the whole browser window.

Anyone have advice on being a plugin developer and debugging issues on WordPress VIP? It's such a unique environment with all the VIP dropins and mu plugins. But as we're not an agency, we don't have any of the access that agency devs will have.

- Is it possible to add open source models? They'd need to be hosted somewhere so that might be difficult. - How about Telex from Automattic? - Currently "Find more connectors in the plugin directory" is a dead end. Maybe time for a new search filter in the WordPress plugin repo?
