I don’t play the sims to play with other people and have other people meddling with it, I play the sims to have complete control over the stories and my game. If the sims 5 is online multiplayer, I’m 100% not going to buy it. That’s not what I play the game for
I wanna add on to this, what if you have a sim who you’ve canonised as gay/trans etc and someone in the online comes and changes that. I’d HATE to be playing a gay sim and cause sexuality in the sims just doesn’t exist, a female sim could come get with my sim. A nightmare
@shroomboii
if the online is optional like animal crossing then i’ll give it a chance but the way they speak about it makes it seem like it’s completely online. and we all know what happened to simcity when it was online only :/
@_giuseppe32
Simcity destroyed the simcity franchise and no doubt the same thing would happen with the sims. History repeating, a competitor game is being made and EA aren’t listening to us
@shroomboii
If
#TheSims5
has online AND offline modes, I'll buy it for the offline modes
The BIG disadvantage of an online mode is the risk of VANDALISM of builds & lots by Trolls. I cite
#ActiveWorlds
& its public world AlphaWorld as an example of this (Anyone who has BEEN on AW knows what
@shroomboii
this makes me think of fallout 76 as well, cause the older fallout games were single player and thats what made them so successful, but because 76 was multiplayer they weren’t able to add a lot of details that made the older games good, and it massively backfired
@shroomboii
I have such bad social anxiety I don’t ever play online games Bc interacting with other players is just a lot for me sometimes. Sims is something I control completely on my own, if they take that away idk what i would do
@shroomboii
They had the issue with sims city and that's why sims 4 took longer to release and some think its why it was unfinished. They tried to capitalize on multi-player form simcity and it was all online, its flopped hard
@shroomboii
I would like a co-op option so I can intentionally play with friends if I want, but I don't want it to be online where randos can just come in and mess with my world and my Sims.
@shroomboii
I cannot. The Sims has always been single player, it’s so hard to see a game that has been purely offline with some online implements being suddenly ‘woaaah we’re doing multiplayer uwu lol’
I want to have escapism.
@shroomboii
I personally would love this aspect. Not entirely online with anyone and everyone, but I have always wanted to play with my best friend. I hope you can select who to play with and not just join a huge online world
@shroomboii
the only way i’d be fine with it is this:
with every safe file you get to set it to private (like rn) semi private (only available to others you made it available for) public (completely open to the public) and semi public (open to the public, but only to watch, no changes) (1/2)
@shroomboii
I LOVE the idea of playing online. I think it well greatly help the series if they can do it right. A game being online 100% ups the longevity of it. But I know it's not for everyone. I do think if they make it solely online they would lose a lot of loyal fans. But if they do it
