@sensorystories_ I always get stuck trying to figure out what they're actually asking for. Is it my hobbies, interests, personality, social circle, career, education, principles, politics, history (& what age range), nationality, physical attributes, sexual orientation, relationship status, etc?

@sensorystories_ This question triggers my social anxiety to the next level. Even worse if it's a seminar and you're the last person to answer 🫣

@sensorystories_ I hate this question so much. 😭 My issue is I have no idea where to even start. I wish the question was more specific. It's impossible to answer "tell me about yourself" bc there is SO MUCH about me that I can share. Like, what are you wanting to know?? LOL

@sensorystories_ For me it’s decades of being called weird and made fun of and learning to mask my true self and present an acceptable version of me to the rest of the world. So it’s like, “shoot, what about myself can I reveal in a group setting that won’t make people dislike me even more?”

@sensorystories_ There are so many layers to this question... first, please be more specific! Second, I didn't even have a strong sense of self or identity until college, so "who I am" is still kinda hazy. And, please don't ask about my favorite whatever, they depend on the criteria 😅

@sensorystories_ When we do intros on zoom calls, I literally jot down my name, city and job title so I don't forget what to say. I've lived in the same city since I was born over 40 years ago! And... My. Name!

@sensorystories_ I have a document called "My Personality" both in hard copy and in the cloud. It's a list of my main interests, traits, and aesthetic preferences. I also have lists of favorite movies, tv shows, books ... pretty much everything people ask about.

@sensorystories_ When people ask I just say i'm boring 😅 Seriously my mind goes blank. Favourite movie, song, game...? I got nothing lol.

@sensorystories_ In language exams they do this all the time. It's because it's supposed to be easier to talk about yourself. It always makes me look like I just don't know the language, it annoys me so much.

@sensorystories_ I don’t like this question because I don’t think about myself in ways that would make it so I can wrap it up and gift to others. Be specific and I can give you responses but simply “tell me about yourself” makes my brain blank.

@sensorystories_ I wrote "loves words, trees, and chili chocolate" in a bio for a spoken word event once and I've been repeating it forever. but like, ask me my favorite anything and you'll get the one I'm excited about RIGHT NOW. (also if you talk to me for more than two seconds ttrpgs.)

@sensorystories_ @cassamidy I had to do this a lot when learning French. At first I thought I was bad at speaking French. But I noticed as soon as I was speaking about literally anything else I was just fine. Turns out I just don’t want to tell anyone about myself in any language.
