The SCAD community mourns the passing of beloved author and friend Tina McElroy Ansa. Tina’s support of #SCAD extended to #SCADMOA, where she proudly showcased her collection of paintings by the late artist Ana Bel Washington in the spring 2023 exhibition “Rejoice!”

Anthony Akinbola’s “The Price of Oil” presents thousands of products commonly associated with Black hair care, including hair grease, relaxer, and pomade on oversized retail shelving. Commissioned by #SCADMOA with generous contributions from Imperial DAX and Murray’s.

Anthony Olubunmi Akinbola is a first-generation American of Nigerian descent, raised in both the U.S. and Nigeria. Here, he stands in front of ‘Sunday’s Best’, one of three new works presented on the occasion of his #SCADMOA solo exhibition entitled “Good Hair.”

In her #SCADMOA exhibition, Olimpia Zagnoli uses material, color, and space to convey the ever-changing identities of her relatable characters. Appreciate the multitudes of self in Zagnoli’s exhibition “Multifaceted,” organized by SCAD MOA assistant curator Brittany Richmond.
