Still can't believe Israel supporters spent days yelling "Israel isn't starving children, it's starving SICK children!" and thought that was an awesome argument.

Of course none were seriously injured, because you invented the assaults as part of your pathetic propaganda. Who assaulted you? The woman in her 90s you arrested, the woman in her 80s with Alzheimers you arrested or the elderly man in his wheelchair you arrested?
Arrest update: The operation in Parliament Square continues. As of 6pm, 365 people had been arrested for supporting a proscribed organisation. There have been seven arrests for other offences including five for assaults on officers. Fortunately none were seriously injured.

This is what we used to call in the 1960s, a 'found poem', a text that didn't need changing because it revealed enough purely as it is.
Arrest update: We’ve now arrested 150 people in Parliament Square. While many of those remaining in the Square are media and onlookers, there are still people holding placards supporting Palestine Action. Officers are steadily working through the crowd making further arrests.

My life’s work of defending Israel and equivocating about its crimes is starting to feel a bit embarrassing so I’ll be spending more time watching the cricket.

Typically naive, and frankly silly, @TheEconomist editorial- from a magazine that failed to hear the clear calls for genocide and ethnic cleansing issued by Israeli leaders from the beginning, which endorsed their bloodlust with covers reading 'Why Israel Must Fight On'- and
The Economist says "Israel must hold itself to account" for its war crimes in Gaza, but Israel has no history of doing that. At best it gives low-level soldiers slaps on the wrist but never prosecutes the leaders who order war crimes. The ICC is needed.

I am so sorry that I am not well enough to join the demo in London tomorrow. I am proud to tell everyone that I support Palestine Action. Direct action to stop Israeli massacre should be congratulated, not punished. I am 90; I am Jewish; I say end the genocide.
Simply astonishing to discover how popular terrorism has become among British pensioners. It almost makes one wonder whether there's a problem with how the UK government is defining "terrorism". https://t.co/aqW7cj1JVV

Meet Colonel (ret.) Chris Romberg, former British army officer (29 Commando Regiment), military attache at UK embassies in Egypt and Jordan, and son of a Holocaust survivor. Chris was arrested today for supporting a terrorist organisation. A quick thread >

Fake news. The “charity” (CST) is actually a pro-Israel lobby group with ties to Israel’s Mossad. It falsely classifies slogans including “Free Palestine” as “anti-Semitic”.
electronicintifada.net
An influential UK charity denounced Jewish critics of Israel in secret reports to the government earlier this year, The Electronic Intifada has learned.

Here's a thought, why don't you arrest the hundreds of British nationals who joined the Israeli military and participated in genocide, instead of gloating about arresting OAPs who oppose it?

Police are arresting people, many of whom would usually vote Labour, but they are being arrested as a result of a law that a Labour govt has passed threatening freedom of speech and activity in relation to a genocide that this Labour Govt is helping with.

My friend got robbed this week and the police were very upfront that they could not and would not do anything about it. Good to know that they've got plenty of resources when it really matters: arresting pensioners for holding pieces of paper.
Arrest update: We’ve now made more than 50 arrests in Parliament Square and our interventions continue. We have significant resources deployed to this operation. It will take time but we will arrest anyone expressing support for Palestine Action.

Quite right- brave of you to say this, @RoryStewartUK
Rory Stewart, ex Tory MP, slams Lammy, Starmer and the UK 🇬🇧 Government: ‘Training IDF soldiers’ ‘Flying spy missions for Israel 🇮🇱’ ‘Not standing up for lawyers sanctioned by 🇺🇸 for working with the ICC’ The world is waking up. Starmer & Lammy 🇬🇧 should be in The Hague.

This is what the Met police have been reduced to in Starmer’s Britain. Weird, I don’t see all those MAGA right folks and Elon Musk who were tweeting furiously about free speech in the UK just a few months ago saying anything about this:
BREAKING: Met police arrest a disabled blind man at the Parliament Square protest, where many hundreds are holding placards which say "I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action"

If arrests for placards were taking place in Russia and China, our media and political class would be vociferously condemning the clear authoritarianism and draconian repression. Apparently it’s fine when it’s in Britain though.
