So either they are selling up (if landlordism is so unappealing) to someone who is going to live there, or these 22k rental properties are sitting empty. Which is it?
22k rental properties have been removed from market in Scotland. 6.4%. Asked why 83% said “perceived hostility towards landlords from gov/politicians”
@timesscotland
Obviously what Scotland needs is robust rent controls (not temporary private sector ‘caps’ with multiple loopholes) and a serious strategy on public housing.

I’ll never understand this argument that landlords leaving the industry is bad tbh. Unless they’re sitting on empty property, which could be fixed with compulsory purchase orders.
@ruth_gilbert
The position that renters are 'homeowners in waiting' is a wrong one.
(There's no shortage of available property for sale)
The problem this creates is it shrinks a rental market and drives up rents (supply and demand)
Which is a big issue for most renters.

A landlord on the doors today told me the SNP were so bad, she was selling up when her tenant had moved out, and I was supposed to think that was a bad thing
