I spoke to BBC Scotland this morning on the extension of the (partial) PRS rent cap and the need for robust rent controls to bring already obscene rents down. Listen from 1.35 and join @living_rent The markets won’t solve the housing crisis, we will.

@ruth_gilbert @Living_Rent Plz explain how controls dissuade profit-seeking (which is the name of the game) private landlords from exiting the sector (as is currently happening) thus taking units out of circulation meaning ⏬ choice for tenants & ultimately ⏫ rents?

@ruth_gilbert @Living_Rent You stated that landlords are not selling up. This is incorrect as any landlord & agent will confirm. Interest rates, EPC AND ScotGov's recent housing legislation makes landlordism unprofitable. What happens to tenants when their rental home is sold? What happens to rents?
