Lol I’m getting invited to Chinese American parent events where I can go listen to “mom whose kid went to Stanford & father who sent kid to Oxford talk about their parenting insights.” Which other immigrant cultures do this lol

So turns out that man who drove into the Chinese consulate in SF yelling “where’s the CCP” is a Chinese native from Shandong obsessed with bows, gun replicas, political books including ones on assassination. Wonder if he was just very mentally ill 🤯

I should have played way more badminton when I was living in Asia (and much younger). Love this game. Don’t diss it if you haven’t tried it, it’s quite challenging

I did not know people thought this. This is far from reality. I know tons of Asian people who moved to Asia (including Taiwan) bc of anti Asian hate & general discrimination & exactly zero who moved away from Taiwan due to “war prospects.” People leave for better opportunities

Headline editors are such a joke. Intentionally immoral at this point IMO. The release itself promotes this as hugely positive (!!), this was in line with what has happened in similar cases in other jurisdictions, was expected, and is example of the audits working as intended!

Holy cow! What a terrible headline! They left out all of the positives said. Shameful! Read the release yourself!

Literally everywhere in East Asia it’s like this. Actually gonna get a full checkup for self and husband when I go later this year. The equivalent “physical” that we get here in the US? Costs 40 RMB (self pay) in Beijing. $5.60, price of a Frappuccino

In Taiwan, I paid $350 for a full body checkup that would have cost me tens of thousands of dollars in the US. They ran a battery of tests: blood, EKG, CT, sonogram, etc. For a nominal fee: endoscopy and colonoscopy. Then they went over the full report with me. It blew my mind.

Haha just saw this in a note: “critical thinking within the Western media is in short supply these days, and that most journalists would now rather be wrong with the consensus than be right alone.” Ouch 🤕

Unpopular opinion from someone who was not popular from my earliest memories: When parents over-focus on “socialization” what you’re really pushing on your kid is the idea that there is something wrong if they aren’t well-liked by their peers. This makes them brittle and…

Almost two years into being a parent, I feel even more strongly (what I long suspected) that your kids really just model what they see you do, so don't even bother with faking good habits -- instead, just actually adopt them. Case in point, many of my friends started reading to…

My husband makes endless fun of me for this, but ... I am a big fan of the @AARP magazine. I'd go so far as to say that it's one of the best life hacks I discovered last year, completely by accident. So for those of you not from the US, you probably don't know about the AARP,…
