This morning I'm writing to my MP to make sure our voices are heard to show support for the kind of caring society I want to live in here. One based on love, care, respect and openly diverse in all it's glory. I hope we can make that heard, in parliament across the country.

The violent scenes at the weekend in the UK were atrocious, and a result of rhetoric from Government and a right wing press that's built up over years and years.

The actions by these groups reported in the news over the weekend were racist and Islamophobic and they don't represent a Britain I want to live in.

I'm thinking this morning of all my friends and peers, and those I'm connected to on this platform who may be feeling scared, anxious or targeted in someway because of what we witnessed.

I recognise this aggression isn't isolated to this weekend only, but there was a very visceral violent tipping point. Know that there are many of us here who stand against racists, Islamphobes, and other forms of hate targeted against members of our society.

I will not tolerate hate towards human beings and will keep doing my best to actively stand against it.
