Exposure is not payment. My passionate response to recent events in my creative life that need to be shared. I hope you will enjoy this and remain positive!

This confirms many suspicions I've had about them, to be honest.
I visited their offices a couple of years ago and they were obsessed with trying to look like every Shoreditch cliche going. Which is a shame as their gear is pretty innovative.
@MattBowdler
It's really sad and dispiriting. I want to believe in and supporters all innovators but if you exploit the trust and good will of others that's completely unacceptable
@blackknoll
I left it VERY easy to find out who this company is with one Google search. And the story is so much bigger than this one company of course!

@JoBrodie
Asked to do something by someone with a Disney (!) email address. When I asked about fees, they never even got back to me. Sadly I’m pretty sure there’ll be some desperate sci-commer who will no doubt do the gig for “exposure”
@petefowlerart
Difficult as you know when you are freelance and actually NEED the money. Sometimes offers of money come through in the next negotiations, but here it was beer and food! Oh dear, oh dear
@robinrimbaud
Many years ago my boss said to me ‘however much you enjoy your job you’d soon stop turning up if we stopped paying you’, but this kind of thing seems to be becoming standard behaviour in the creative arts. Well done for calling it out!
@robinrimbaud
I often get this the other way around. Artists who really should know better and can easily afford to buy the kit i produce, asking for freebies in exchange for them having whatever it is sitting in their studio next time Future Music or whoever comes round to worship their gear.
@circuitbenderuk
Terrible! I bought a lot of software from a one man software operation in Europe last week, who then sent me things for free after I'd paid for everything else. So kind and generous. I love to support others!
@robinrimbaud
Wouldn’t we would all love to be able to live on air? The assumption that we can is outrageous - and this kind of thing is far too common.... we’ve all experienced the “you should be grateful” nonsense. Fair play to you Robin for speaking out.....
