Covid 19...No the policies put in place is what is causing all this. And we need to inform those who are commiting suicide and those thinking of the same that its too expensive to die now. You are just passing your problems to those who remain behind

#mentalhealth
has been an issue in Kenya for a long time.
#Covid_19
has just made it more prominent.
In Kenya, the total mental health expenditure per person is just over Ksh 3 (Mental Health Atlas 2017); and there are only 0.19 mental health workers per 100,000 population.
@robi_chacha
The government and
@MOH_Kenya
has not invested in mental health at all.
There are only a few hospitals equipped with the staff and infrastructure to address mental well-being.
@robi_chacha
mental health was a pandemic before COVID19. All of us know someone who:
1. took their own life
2. is addicted to something (alcohol, sex, betting etc)
3. has mentally disconnected from family & community & isolated themselves. Talks to themselves more than they talk to others
@robi_chacha
Sad but this is the reality
#KwaGround
