ppl are drinking themselves to death, burying themselves in hustles, imploding their relationships and everything else and don’t know it’s grief that motivates them to be this way. we live in a grief averse society that does not permit time or space to grieve.
It feels strange to be surrounded by death, disease and violence everyday and still feel pressure to be happy and positive. 1 million dead from Covid, be happy. Shootings everyday in every place, be happy. Oppression…be happy. Why is no one grieving? Why aren’t more of us sad?

Told my Auntie I feel like doors are being shut behind me and I’m still waiting for new doors to be opened. Auntie told me to dance in the hallway and give thanks while I wait. And just like that, waiting doesn’t seem so bad.
