101 years ago today: 11am on Tuesday 11th November 1919, crowds in London observe the very first 2 minute silence for those killed in the Great War. The men have removed their hats out of respect for the fallen. (I originally coloured this photo for the Evening Standard in 2019).

"Sizewell C... is now predicted to cost £47bn, with the govt & independent experts acknowledging even this estimate may rise significantly...new nuclear power means massive costs, a poisoned legacy to future generations, & whopping radioactive pollution."

With funding confirmed for a new nuclear power station in Suffolk, Dr Ian Fairlie, CND Vice-President and science adviser, asks why the Government is so fixated with nuclear power.

I’m sure the world used to turn properly quiet for the 11/11 two minutes. Is that true?

Southern Water accused of lying on @BBCPM @EvanHD? "I'm at the beach at the moment and we've got around 70% of those beads now fully cleaned up." said Mr John Penicud SW's Waste Water director Outraged local volunteers claim that simply is not true. Apparently Southern Water

All the ranting & raving in the media about a 15 second part of an hour long documentary on the @BBCNews that happened a year ago & nobody noticed (not even Trump). This rage should be directed at the water companies that are routinely polluting our rivers & beaches.
So how can you dump sewage into the environment for 454,155 hours in just one year, and fail to meet your customer satisfaction targets, fail to meet your per capita consumption targets, fail to meet your supply interruption targets, fail to meet your DRINKING WATER QUALITY

The company was given four stars for environmental performance despite getting a whopping £2m fine for “reckless pollution”! And now they are praised by the minister for that meaningless rating https://t.co/8SdHASSZIh

The Environment Agency prosecuted Severn Trent Water for huge discharge of raw sewage at treatment works in Stoke.

The minister for water gave a speech yesterday at the British Water conference. It makes pertinently clear what govt's approach to the water industry is going to be. Roll over, play dead, give WCs what they want, pat them on the head and congratulate them for doing a nice

Leadership? The water industry has no idea what that means. Wouldn't that be right Emma Hardy? Why weren't the board, chairman, CEO, CFO and the whole senior management team on the ground at Camber Sands helping to clean this up? Of course not, send 3 junior members of staff.
@Feargal_Sharkey Apparently @SouthernWater sent 3 voluntary junior employees yesterday & didn’t even stump of for buckets for them! They’re now tweeting their ’concern’

I did NOT expect to be punching the air and going "HELL YES!" to Chris Patten. But what he says is SO rarely said and needed saying SO badly! "How shall we treat Mr Farage's concerns? Shall we hail Brexit a tremendous success? Something that has cost the country billions?"
SUPERB and angrily unvarnished response, by former BBC chairman, Lord Patten. "I don't think that we should allow ourselves to be bullied into thinking that the BBC is only any good, if it reflects the prejudice of the last person who shouted at it." ~AA

Are this pair oblivious to the fact that EDF “Braces for more delays at Hinkley Point” & “is likely to be pushed back by at least another year.” So, Pyke & Cann, Sizewell C “being a replica of HPC” is a cause for concern, not something to brag about! https://t.co/xBCeJPHXrw

This is a sight seen all over Britain, every day. Abandoned sandbags, cones and A-frames. What hope have we of getting motorists not to litter, if third rate quangos like @NationalHways allow their contractors to dump stuff everywhere without any sanctions?

This night was difficult. On the map, you can see what the Russian attack on Ukraine looked like on the night of November 7 to 8. The Russians launched 458 drones (of which more than 300 were Shahids) and 45 missiles (of which 32 were ballistic). Russia is methodically
