Finally, we used LLMs to classify social media content and found a bias towards neutrality. Compared to our close reading, the thematic labeling of posts by the chatbots was rather apolitical.

These findings point up the importance of cross-platform analysis (rather than a single-platform approach) given that the dominant storylines on each platform may be distinctive.

On Weibo we found the amplification of Russian state narratives by Chinese state-sponsored accounts and political influencers. On Douyin we found the war framed in the Chinese national self-interest such as the potential for the return of Vladivostok to China.

Just published. Algorithmic probing: Prompting offensive Google results and their moderation. In collaboration with a group of student researchers, we made queries that previously resulted in offensive results, thereby studying patching & ultimately Google's hierarchy of concerns.
