Whilst people are entitled to dismiss the words of a lawyer on this issue, I could not agree more. The time has come for a public and transparent inquiry into maternity safety. This can only be achieved through a statutory inquiry whatever the flaws in that process.
Why a public inquiry on maternity safety must be *statutory*:. 1) The default is for evidence to be heard in public, providing transparency & accountability just by virtue of being open to scrutiny by all. Remember Paula Vennells answering questions in public at the PO inquiry?.
