Whilst people are entitled to dismiss the words of a lawyer on this issue, I could not agree more. The time has come for a public and transparent inquiry into maternity safety. This can only be achieved through a statutory inquiry whatever the flaws in that process.
Why a public inquiry on maternity safety must be *statutory*:. 1) The default is for evidence to be heard in public, providing transparency & accountability just by virtue of being open to scrutiny by all. Remember Paula Vennells answering questions in public at the PO inquiry?.

It is addressed by ensuring that future loss claims follow average annual earnings, rather than building overly speculative claims based upon specific career trajectories and doesn’t assume that the children of wealthy parents would be high earners.
