We’re ready to open a new chapter of digital communication, where we hope we don’t have to block people from replying to our posts about the people we work with due to the risk of abuse. We want to build a movement with people who want to end the hostile environment for.

We acknowledge that no social media platform is perfect – and there are other platforms where racism and hate still exists. But for now, X is no longer a good way to communicate with our community and build our movement.

We’re done with the unchecked hate, racism, misinformation and conspiracy theories here – all of which are part of the problem. The increasingly racist and dehumanising rhetoric found on this platform only feeds racist violence, riots and policy decisions.

Please note, our supporter care response times will be slower than usual today and tomorrow (November 11-12). This is because Refugee Action is hosting an all-staff conference, where many colleagues will be attending and away from the phonelines.

People need safe routes to reach the UK, so they don’t have to put their lives at risk in dangerous journeys. Hostile border policies based on “security" have always failed. They ultimately result in more people dying in the channel - mostly people of colour from countries

We need our government to recognise the role Donald Trump plays in this, and stand up to any racist, anti-refugee policies he enacts.

We’re campaigning to end the racist rhetoric that allows leaders like him to gain office. In our parliament, on our newspaper stands, on our televisions and social media feeds. Anti-refugee, Islamophobic, anti-migrant language and sentiment poisons people's minds and spills onto.

Along with hundreds of thousands of you, we stand with refugees and always will. The news that Donald Trump will be America’s president is terrifying. We won’t sugarcoat it. For those of you who met the news with anger, frustration and fear - we’re with you, we feel it too.

We spoke in depth about how the fight for racial justice and the fight for refugee rights are the same. We sang together, chanted together, and shared stories. Because we can only fix the system if we all stand up together.

We need to talk about racism in the asylum system. In Black History Month, we launched our Racial Justice Report in Manchester. The event was led with @VoiceRas - a group of refugees who are all experts in the UK’s hostile asylum system because of their own experience of it.

Let’s start talking about people and their lives. About safety. About welcome. It’s time to increase safe routes, tackle the causes of displacement, and secure people’s right to safety when they get here.

And yet today’s headlines are about boats, hostility and security. Increased security does not work and ultimately results in more people dying in the channel, mostly people of colour from countries affected by British Colonial rule. This is racial injustice in action.

Is it that radical?. A record number of people have died in the channel this year. But they are not just numbers, they are people who are fleeing war and persecution. They are mothers, fathers, siblings and children.

Pete set himself the challenge of running 50 miles for Race for Refugees, during a pause in treatment for Stage 4 bowel cancer. We’re thrilled to share that he reached his goal five days early! #RaceforRefugees

Absolutely inspirational from Pete who is fundraising for Refugee Action by running 60 miles in between bouts of chemotherapy.
