I welcome Leeds City Council's decision to expand their selective landlord licencing policy to include the Armley area. While many private landlords operate in the right way, we know that lots of private tenants in Armley face problems with poorly maintained housing. (1/3)

@PolitlcsUK @Telegraph All independent schools should cancel ofsted inspections and only go with the isi. The ridiculous endless attacks by Labour whilst they spend billions on waste must be called out and this is no more than discrimination

Keir Starmer, 25 January 2023: “Does the Prime Minister agree that any politician who seeks to avoid the taxes they owe in this country is not fit to be in charge of taxpayer money?” Angela Rayner is not fit to be in charge of taxpayer money. https://t.co/yZNeDPHWvP

Starmer's coven takes hypocrisy to a whole new level of ugliness and offence. 'She's entitled to spend her money as she chooses' ... from the woman who has deliberately prevented thousands of parents spending their money on what they want - their children's schooling.
'She's entitled to spend her money as she chooses!' Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson MP defends Angela Rayner after the deputy PM has been accused of 'tax dodging' after avoiding £40,000 in stamp duty on a second property. 📺 Freeview 236, Sky 512, Virgin 604

Everyone with an ounce of sense said exactly this would happen, and it would be to the detriment of bright but poor children. Priced out of their own areas, and ever fewer bursaries available for them.
Labour’s introduction of the only education tax in the world (without at least a corresponding subsidy) was always likely to lead to migration of children from the independent to the state sector - costing taxpayers £8,210 per pupil. The govt has underestimated this influx by a

Streeting shaking his head shows how completely deluded and ill-prepared and ill-advised Labour were about the effects of this. Every word that Piers Morgan says here has been proven to be true - especially the politics of envy part.
Piers Morgan was right. Labour’s destructive schools policy has unfolded exactly as he predicted more than a year ago. @piersmorgan

We are living in an alternate reality. @bphillipsonMP writing how terrible it is when kids don’t go to school having forced over 50 private schools to close. Thanks to her, OLA closed 2 days ago and hundreds of kids (half with SEND) have no school to attend in 3 weeks’ time.
Every school day counts. Government, schools and parents should be proud of the progress we've made together – 140,000 children regularly back in school. Now we must re-double our efforts to continue to drive down absence. My piece in @Telegraph ✍️

Got a lot of stick from Labour supporters for not answering @Samfr on why even good independent schools are in trouble thanks to Labour. This illustration shows how a strong school making EBITDA of 10% becomes breakeven after the tax changes if it loses 5% of its pupils.

The BBC gaslighting #politicslive viewers again by introducing hideous Claire Fox as "unaffiliated". In reality she is another ex-Brexit Party loon awarded with a peerage by Bozo Johnson.

There's a wonderful irony to highlighting the importance of 'financial literacy' the day after you've announced state schools will be left ÂŁ400m short.
Children should learn about financial literacy – it's common sense. Our Plan for Change will make it happen. With our Children's Wellbeing & Schools Bill, every child will benefit from an education that leaves them ready for work, ready for life. https://t.co/Ct9s3cR4VQ

May this be the first win of many! “The High Court has decided to fast track an appeal by six parents against Labour's VAT raid on private school fees…Mr Justice Chamberlain dismissed the gov’s arguments and agreed that the case should be expedited”. https://t.co/b4q0qVAUMn

This is a sad news and is particularly tough for students sitting exams in a few months. Classics only becomes elite because governments and policy makers make it that way. @classicsforall we will help any state school in the UK with Classics with free training and support.

Almost exactly this... Apart from the fact that the 2% rate hike is only part of it. The threshold change is equally, if not more, destructive to contractors' pay.
