The irony of this is that the Buddha was the exact opposite - an heretical contrarian who upended history, rewrote religious texts and LOVED.
I really dislike that western meditation culture has an anti-excellence bias, where it’s not really explicitly stated but sort of quietly implied, frequently, that the terminal goal of an awakened life is to be an unremarkably liberal vegetarian minding your own business.

Getting great people to quit overpaid, underworked jobs to cofound your almost-certain-to-fail idea *is* hard. But if you can't get someone you know to do this for 50%, how can you get folks you don't know to take a $100k paycut from BigTech for 1/20 as much equity?.
I tend to hear one of two rationales from solo founders: . I cannot convince any of my smart, determined friends or former colleagues to join me on this endeavor. I am so superior to all my friends and former colleagues that teaming up with them would only slow me down.

Before we applied to @ycombinator, many folks said Jack and I were "too old" for it. They were well meaning, but never has worse advice been given. Our Group Partners @bradflora and @_puneetKumar accelerated us on product, sales, and even now on hiring. 10/10. Just apply.

I polled 10 AI founder friends how many of them have their customers really engaging with Google's models right now. 0 said yes. 0. Every other major provider: OpenAI, Anthropic, Facebook and Mistral, all had some traction in my informal survey. Google: 0.
