So the usual report template that I use states “parent reports” and “school staff reports”. Added my own little section titled “child reports” because children’s perspectives, feelings and insights into their own SLCN should be acknowledge and addressed foremost!! 🗣

We must educate our young children in the practice of compassion on a worldwide scale. Teachers and parents can instill in children real, warmhearted human values to tremendous benefit. We need a transformation in commitment to the universal values of compassion and love.

So today I came out of Craniofacial plastic surgery (for medical reasons) and it soon spread like wildfire that I’m a paediatric #SLT to the anaesthetist and nurses looking after me today. They reminded me of how young and strong I am and made me feel so proud to do what I do 🥰

I’m no longer having conversations about ways to “decolonise” Speech & Language Therapy it’s not our jobs to to salvage or make services that were not designed for us better. Let’s create alternate modes that actually address our communities needs/wants.

So many girls get told they have ‘traits of autism’ by mental health services but not autism. Spoiler - the majority of these girls are autistic, they just don’t fit the gender-biased, outdated and misinformed screening and diagnostic tool used.

Did you know that a baby’s 👶 suck-swallow-breathe ratio differs between breastfeeding and bottle feeding?🍼 SSwB during a breastfeed can fluctuate from 1-3 sucks:swallow, whereas a bottle is mostly 1:1 and oxygen saturation is higher during a breastfeed!😯 #SwallowAware2022
